Owl shorts and I'm back?
It was kind of nice taking a break from blogging this summer. After graduation we went to Disneyland in California with my mom and just had a blast. I started adjunct teaching this summer too and now I'm on a hiatus until...Monday. I am teaching two courses this semester so I am planning on being super busy! It seems though that the more I am doing the more I end up taking on. I guess being busy just promotes a productive mindset. Unlike most of this summer... :)
And Monday is also Elena's first day of preschool! We are very excited!! There are big things in store for the rest of this year. 2013 has been awesome so far so I hope there is still some extra special magic left to carry us through to the end of this year.
Anyways I thought I'd start out by sharing a small project.
I can't take all the credit for these little yellow shorts. They were made by Elena's granny, who has gifted us many beautiful handmade items and collaborated on many of my projects. I don't remember which pattern she used but it is readily available online I believe. After a couple of months and a massive growth spurt they were a tad on the short side so I decided to lengthen them by adding a cuff of cute owl fabric. I also added a little peekaboo applique to each pocket. Gosh these are cute! Just think you can lengthen any pair of kid shorts, pants, or even skirts this way.
And yes she is eating crackers. That is today's photo shoot distraction. Peeps also love crackers.
Did I mention I also got a serger? That made it super easy to sew up this tank top out of an old men's knit tee. Applique an owl on there and bam! Cute top. Who needs to finish the edges when this thing is getting ready to get covered in spaghetti sauce anyways?
I love her knees.
